The Product Development & Channel Delivery (PDCD) team is responsible for developing and delivering a full range of commercial and private banking products through multiple delivery channels including online, mobile and direct channels (file transmission, API banking, OFX).
As a key member of this team, the API Banking Channel Manager will guide the design, development, and support of the bank’s new API Banking channel. This modern open platform is helping SVB’s clients connect to the bank programmatically and allowing them to add financial operations to their applications seamlessly.
The position will report to the Sr. Director of Online Channels and will work closely with the Engineering, Sales, Service, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure solutions are delivered to meet the needs of SVB’s diverse client base.
Skills & Requirements:
- Research and Development
Interview clients and prospects to uncover unmet needs, gauge client satisfaction, and provide input to the roadmap.
Stay ahead of trends in API development through competitive research, networking, and industry events.
Monitor and analyze client and industry trends to develop insights and potential solutions for our clients.
- Product Development and Channel Management
Define, own and manage the overall client experience across the API banking channel and the financial products offered within it.
Create & maintain the API Banking roadmap and groom the backlog. Work with the technology and implementation teams to estimate, implement, and build features while ensuring that you and the team are working on the highest priority projects.
Become a core member of the API banking team by working closely with product development engineers, fostering a collaborative working environment, and partnering with the Tech Lead for the team.
Define API Banking features. Write specs and user stories, create wireframes, prototypes, test plans, and release checklists.
Translate market needs into business requirements; review functional specifications and participate / sign off on user testing as well as all required processes and documentation
Collaborate with key players throughout the organization. Communicate functionality and incorporate feedback from across the organization including the sales, service, implementation, operations and technology teams, as well as across the Commercial Bank and outside providers.
Partner with support teams to ensure appropriate training and sales / service support tools are developed to promote adoption and utilization of API Banking Channel.
Ensure that all legal, security, compliance, and regulatory considerations associated with the delivery of API Banking products and services are addressed.
Develop business cases that support the appropriate investments in product and channel initiatives that drive client and organizational value.
- Product Evangelism
Be the voice of API banking internally and externally for SVB
Produce thought leadership in various channels to drive interest and adoption of SVB’s API platform
Consult with Relationship Management teams on how best to position SVB API’s during the sales process.
Develop relationships with clients building on the API Banking channel to ensure that the platform is working for them. Empower our clients to thrive and innovate on the platform.
Host Hackathons and other events to build awareness and encourage development on SVB’s API platform
Build and support a community of developers using the API
Minimum 7 years of product management experience, engineering, or data science.
Previous experience shipping and iterating on successful platform or financial products.
Design thinking approach to solving problems and capitalizing on opportunity.
Entrepreneurial mindset and flexibility; ability to think strategically while working tactically. Previous startup experience a plus.
Extraordinary interpersonal and communications skills. Strong focus on teamwork and ability to conduct /foster relationships across multiple departments and geographies.
Ability to work independently.
Knowledge of the commercial banking or financial technology industry including regulatory requirements, and technology providers in the space.
Passion around client experience and developing innovative online and mobile delivery of financial products and tools.
Strong analytical, project and problem solving skills. Excellent written skills
